Philanthropy & Service
Tannenbaum Chabad House provides numerous opportunities for students to give back to the community by raising funds for philanthropic causes or donating their time to support the needy. Some of our projects have included support for:
- Kids for Kids
A platform for Jews around the world to perform tangible acts of kindness for Israeli children who have been affected by terrorism and are suffering from post=traumatic stress syndrome.
- Chabad’s Terror Victims Project
A program that offers financial, spiritual, and emotional assistance to victims of terror and their families.
- Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl
An organization dedicated to evacuating children from the contaminated areas of Belarus and Ukraine and brining them to Israel to receive medical care and education.
- Hospital Visitations
Chabad House schedules opportunities for students to visit Evanston Hospital with Rabbi Klein during Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot to bring patients some holiday cheer, the sound of the shofar, or the lulav and etrog.
- Nursing Home Visitations
Students travel to local nursing homes to talk with the residents, play games, and sing songs to lift their spirits.
- Hurricane Katrina Alternative Spring Break Rebuilding Project
Chabad House organized a group of students to spend their spring break in New Orleans, helping to rebuild the city following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
